Responsibilities

• Performs field safety audits and recommends corrective actions.
• Performs safety orientations for new hires.
• Oversees random drug screening program and manages drug/alcohol program.
• Investigates accidents/injuries to determine causes and preventive measures.
• Supports OSHA-related inspections, citations, hearings, and compliance with rules.
• Provides safety training and related sessions.
• Recommends disciplinary actions for safety violations.
• Reviews safety indicators to identify training needs.
• Assists with transitional return-to-work programs for injured workers.
• Attends safety-related seminars and meetings.
• All other duties as assigned.

Job description

• Performs field safety audits and makes recommendations for corrective actions as needed.
• Performs safety orientations for new hires as needed.
• Oversees random drug screening program.
• Manages company’s comprehensive drug and alcohol program.
• Performs and/or assists with accident/injury/incident investigations to determine cause and possible prevent measures for future work of a similar nature.
• Assists with all OSHA related issues such as inspections, citations, hearings, etc. Performs field safety audits to ensure compliance with all OSHA, State, Local, and Company safety rules and regulations.
• Makes recommendations to management concerning disciplinary actions when safety violations occur.
• Reviews leading safety indicators for potential problem areas where additional safety training may be required.
• Assists with management of the transitional return to work program for injured workers.
• Attend safety related seminars, meetings, forums, etc.
• Assists or conducts all safety related training.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

Experience/Qualifications Required:

o Minimum of 4 years’ experience in the construction industry or a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health.

Job Skills:

• Knowledge of Windows based software (Excel, Word) and any e-mail system. Detail oriented.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Capable of handling confidential information.
• Able to perform climbing (extreme heights), crawling, heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) and must not be claustrophobic.
