Role Overview

The Regional Route Planner is responsible for managing driver and customer relations within a designated region. This role involves developing and optimizing delivery routes, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining high customer service standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and a thorough understanding of logistics and transportation planning.

Primary Job Responsibilities
  1. Route Planning and Optimization
  • Design and optimize delivery routes to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Use route planning software to ensure optimal routes.
  • Adjust routes based on traffic, weather, and other factors.
  • Build executable loads within regions and schedule delivery stops safely.
  • Maximize driver productivity and fleet utilization.
  • Schedule regional orders to meet delivery goals and deadlines.
  • Leverage partnerships with carriers like DHL and UPS for cost-effective loads.
  • Coordinate with the Freight team for regional fleet support.
  • Update trip information and check BOL discrepancies daily.
  • Prepare driver pick slips and communicate delivery plans.
  • Monitor open RMAs and schedule pickups accordingly.
  • Customer Relations
    • Confirm delivery times and contact details with customers.
    • Serve as the main contact for delivery inquiries and issues.
    • Maintain strong relationships with key customers.
    • Collaborate with Customer Service and Sales on orders.
    • Perform BOL audits and manage backorders.
  • Communication and Coordination
    • Communicate route plans and updates to drivers and stakeholders.
    • Coordinate escalation challenges for critical deliveries.
    • Provide regular updates to the Regional Freight Manager.
  • Problem Solving
    • Proactively resolve route-related issues.
    • Analyze delivery data for improvements.
    • Implement contingency plans for disruptions.
  • Compliance and Safety
    • Ensure activities comply with policies and regulations.
    • Promote safety culture among drivers and staff.
    • Conduct route audits for safety compliance.
    • Support the Stop Work Obligation Program.
    Qualifications

    This role requires working 40+ hours weekly, including nights and weekends as needed.

    Skills and Knowledge

    • Quick learner with strong communication skills.
    • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
    • Strong organizational and conflict resolution skills.
    • Knowledge of FMCSA and State DOT requirements, including HOS rules.
