Job summary

The Mid-East Commission in Washington, NC seeks an Executive Director to lead a regional agency serving five counties. You will report to the Commission Board of 51 local officials and citizen representatives and manage 25–30 staff with a budget over $9 million.

The position requires a master’s degree in public administration, business administration, or related field, or equivalent experience, plus demonstrated leadership and knowledge of local governments, budgeting, and federal/state programs.

Qualifications

• Masters degree or equivalent experience in public administration, business administration, or related field.
• Proven leadership ability and experience working with local governments including counties and municipalities.
• Experience in financial management and budgeting; knowledge of state and federal programs.
• Ability to oversee services across multiple programs and manage a mid-size staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership for the Commission and its Board of 51 local officials and citizen representatives.
• Oversee a team of 25–30 professional staff and a budget in excess of $9 million.
• Collaborate with local governments, private sector, and non-profit organizations to advance regional priorities.
• Ensure program implementation aligns with state and federal requirements and agency objectives.
