Job summary

Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. is seeking a Regional Program Director to oversee all Early Childhood Development programs, including Migrant Head Start, within the region. The position emphasizes leadership, cross-site coordination, and collaboration with coordinators to advance program quality and family engagement in a culturally diverse environment.

Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate degree in human services or education.
  • 5 years of experience in an early childhood education environment.
  • 2 years of management and supervision experience.
  • Experience working with low-income and culturally diverse families and communities.
  • Strong knowledge of financial and budget management.
  • Proficient computer skills (Office 365, Adobe) and web-based systems.

Responsibilities

Job description

CPLC's Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs are committed to giving every child, regardless of circumstances at birth, an opportunity to succeed in school and life. Provides full-day, full-year early childhood development services to low income children, ages 0-3 years, and their families in educationally-stimulating learning environments.

Objective And Position Summary

The Regional Program Director oversees and manages all Early Childhood Development including Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Programs located within the region. Works closely with Content Area Coordinators and Specialists to ensure program sites are operating within the Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS) and CPLC policies and procedures and to support children and families. Promotes school readiness by preparing children and families for school and life success as it relates to this position. Actively supervise children by sight and sound at all times and in all environments. Maintains all health and safety regulations to create an optimum learning environment. Facilitates health practices to keep children safe in the school bus, outdoor and indoor environments.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Regional Program Director position directly supervises:

  • Center Service Manager
  • Child Care Partnership Service Manager (where applicable)
  • Regional Office Manager

The position indirectly oversees all program staff who report to the hiring managers within the region through a multi-level system and includes staff hires, evaluation, professional development, disciplinary action and employee discharges.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES Education/Background:
Minimum education qualifications:
  • Baccalaureate degree in human services or education
  • 5 years of experience in an early childhood education environment
  • 2 years of management and supervision experience.
Minimum qualifications for the position are as follows:
  • Experience working with low-income and culturally diverse children, families and communities.
  • Must demonstrate experience in early childhood education programs and services, community-based collaboration, partnership development, and cross-system service planning and development.
  • Strong knowledge of financial and budget management.
  • Strong capacity building, oral and written communication, and organizational skills.
  • Effective leadership, management/supervision and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Head Start philosophy and principles of shared governance and decision making.
  • Proficient computer, software (e.g. Microsoft Office 365, Adobe) and web-based systems ability.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Knowledge of early childhood development and/or HSPPS and Head Start Act.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English.
