Job summary

Meta seeks an experienced professional to lead local government affairs across the United States to support the data center site strategy. You will engage with cities, counties, and regional bodies to advance priorities and strengthen community relationships where Meta builds and operates.

The role reports to the Public Policy Manager, Local Government Affairs and can be based remotely in Indiana or Ohio. Frequent travel is required, up to 80% of the time, to site locations and policy meetings

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in political science, business/strategy, economics, legal, communications, public relations, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in state or local public policy, advocacy, or government affairs.
• Experience with policymakers and stakeholders in data center site locations.
• Knowledge of technology, infrastructure, data center, and economic development policy in region.
• Experience working cross-functionally.
• Demonstrated experience creating and implementing advocacy campaigns with milestones in policy/advocacy goals.
• Creative problem-solving, negotiation, and multi-tasking in time-sensitive settings.
• Experience communicating nuanced concepts to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead Meta's local government affairs efforts across current and future data center sites in the United States.
• Build and execute a national local government affairs strategy supporting operational sites and new development.
• Engage with local policymakers to advance data center infrastructure investment, permitting, and economic development.
• Monitor the political environment and identify opportunities to advance local policies.
• Partner with Infrastructure and Data Center teams to align policy with site timelines and community commitments.
• Collaborate with industry groups, nonprofits, and associations to promote economic development and open internet.
• Coordinate with Community Engagement to engage chambers of commerce and civil society groups.
• Keep cross-functional partners updated on local policy developments.
• Manage relationships with local policymakers, contract lobbyists, and trade associations.
• Willingness to travel up to 80% of the time based on need.
