Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Northeast Regional Payroll Specialist to own payroll across Breen and Sullivan Mechanical Service, Caswell Mechanical, Shawsheen Air Services and other regional units. The role ensures accurate, timely payroll delivery using Paylocity, coordinating across legal entities, locations, and pay structures.

You will oversee full payroll cycle, manage timekeeping, tax compliance, benefits, GL reconciliation, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, HR, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, incl. 2+ years in supervision.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
• Experience managing multi-state payroll & regional tax compliance.
• Proficiency with payroll software and HRIS (Paylocity/ADP/Workday).
• Advanced Excel and reporting skills.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; manage diverse teams.
• CPP designation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for regional locations.
• Reconcile General Ledger entries for weekly payrolls and month-end accruals.
• Review and approve payroll transactions, reconciliations, and adjustments for accuracy.
• Prepare payroll-related reports and analytics to support management decisions.
• Lead payroll system implementations, upgrades, and integrations.
• Develop and maintain payroll policies, procedures, and controls for efficiency and data security.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, and Operations to support compensation, benefits, and reporting needs.
• Manage vendor relationships with payroll service providers, tax agencies, and third‑party administrators.
• Serve as regional point of contact for payroll audits, inquiries, and escalations.
• Maintain compliance with wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and reporting requirements.
