Job summary

American Welding & Gas Inc. is seeking an Area Operations Director to oversee multiple branches in the North Markets Wisconsin/Minnesota region.

You will provide strategic and day-to-day leadership across operations, safety, logistics, and facilities to ensure service quality and financial performance. The ideal candidate brings 10+ years in industrial distribution or manufacturing operations, a strong safety background, and proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and drive process

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 10+ years of progressive operations experience in industrial distribution, manufacturing, or logistics.
• Proficiency in supply chain/inventory management in a B2B environment.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations, DOT logistics, and distribution operations.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and drive improvements.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel regularly within the region.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and day-to-day operational leadership for multiple branch locations and facilities.
• Champion a safety-first culture and ensure OSHA/DOT/EPA/FDA compliance.
• Oversee gas distribution logistics, fleet management, and route optimization.
• Manage inventory accuracy, asset utilization, and product availability with supply chain teams.
• Lead recruitment, training, performance management, and succession planning.
• Monitor KPIs related to safety, service levels, productivity, and profitability.
• Collaborate with sales, production, safety, HR and finance; support branch integration.
