Job summary

Achievement First is seeking a Regional Director of Operations for New York to coach and develop school operations leaders across 5–8 schools, ensuring strong performance and equity outcomes. The role reports to the NY Associate Chief of School Operations and collaborates with regional leaders to support principal/DSO partnerships.

The position demands experience in school-based operations management, travel across states, and a proven track record in leading operational teams to deliver results.

Qualifications

• Formal school leadership experience as director of school operations, principal, or assistant principal.
• Willingness to travel across three states as needed.
• Experience coaching and developing operational leaders.

Responsibilities

• Ensure schools meet core performance outcomes and operational metrics with an equity lens.
• Plan operational observation days and address areas for improvement with directors.
• Review key performance data and develop plans to address growth areas.
• Set goals for operations team members for the year.
• Problem-solve in network-wide forums to address challenges.
• Drive talent practices and develop leadership skills across schools.
• Hold regular meetings with each director of school operations.
• Coordinate training and group meetings for ops staff.
• Support recruitment, training, retention, and off-boarding processes.
• Strengthen the pipeline for directors of school operations.
• Ensure compliance and oversee budget and resource alignment.
• Provide organizational development support to AF’s Network Support.
