Job summary

Carbon Health seeks an Area Medical Director to own clinical and operational performance across 10–15 clinics in its market. You will lead a team of Center Medical Directors, partner with operations leadership, and continue practicing medicine about 10 hours per week.

You'll develop clinical leaders, drive patient experience and quality, and report to national leadership on market performance with autonomy to act.

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted license as a Physician (MD/DO), Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant; national certification as applicable.
• BLS/ACLS required by start date; DOT certification required.
• 5+ years of clinical experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, or similar setting.
• 2+ years of leadership as medical director or equivalent.
• Exposure to the business side of medicine — schedules, staffing, metrics, or budgets.
• Strong communication, listening skills and judgment in ambiguous situations.

Responsibilities

• Own the clinical and operational performance of 10–15 clinics.
• Lead Center Medical Directors and partner with operations leadership.
• Practice medicine ~10 hours per week while leading the market.
• Recruit, coach, and develop clinical leaders within the market.
• Report to national leadership on market state and opportunities to improve.
