Job summary

SNF Staffing Solutions seeks a dedicated MDS Consultant to lead development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of MDS services across multiple facilities.

The role emphasizes quality of care, fiscal responsibility, and comprehensive MDS training in accordance with federal, state and local regulations. You will report to a highly esteemed clinician in Texas, ensuring strong regional leadership and program excellence.

Qualifications

• RN license in state practiced.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing school.
• Minimum of five (5) years in long-term or acute health care.
• Minimum of five (5) years working as an MDS Nurse in long-term or acute health care.
• At least three (3) years of multi-facility, regional MDS experience.

Responsibilities

• Consults with and provides technical assistance to the MDS Coordinators through visits and interpretation of policies and regulations.
• Trains new MDS Coordinators in resident assessments, plans of care, and documentation of clinical records.
• Trains new MDS Coordinators on the RAI manual and deadlines for MDS submissions.
• Observes MDS practices for compliance with standards and regulations.
• Regularly inspects facilities for compliance with nursing standards and regulations.
• May assume interim MDS Coordinator role as needed.
• Train facility MDS on company best practices with Compliance Team.
• Lead facility management staff and consultants in developing and working from a business plan covering clinical management.
• Develop and implement metrics and benchmarks for quality of care.
• Advise Clinical Support Team and Director of Nursing to maximize resident satisfaction.
• Develop and utilize processes to reduce variability and improve patient safety.
• Develop and monitor quality management policies and QM reporting.
• Assess eligibility, referrals, case management, disease management systems and QM programs.
• Review clinic information system capabilities for standardized reporting across centers.
• Ensure RAI guidelines are followed with Medicare/Medicaid/OBRA requirements.
• Manage distribution of survey information to address key community needs.
• Ensure compliance with all regulations; guide facilities to adhere to policies.
• Maintain facility safety, equipment, and infection control standards.
• Prepare staff for inspection surveys and implement corrective actions.
• Provide 24-hour on-call service to nursing centers.
• Oversee orientation and in-service training for MDS personnel.
