Job summary

OPCO Skilled Management is seeking a qualified MDS Consultant to lead development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of MDS services across multiple facilities. You will support quality care and fiscal responsibility through comprehensive training and program review of MDS services in accordance with laws and regulations.

This role reports to senior clinicians and requires RN licensure, extensive long-term care MDS experience, and multi-facility regional oversight to ensure consistent

Qualifications

• RN license in the state practiced.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Minimum of five (5) years in long-term or acute health care.
• Minimum of five (5) years working as an MDS Nurse in long-term or acute health care
• At least three (3) years of multi-facility, regional MDS experience

Responsibilities

• Consults with and provides technical assistance to the MDS Coordinators through visits and the interpretation or clarification of policies and regulations.
• Trains new MDS Coordinators in resident assessments, plans of care, evaluations and documentation.
• Trains new MDS Coordinators on the RAI manual and deadlines for resident assessments and MDS completion.
• Observes MDS practices for compliance with standards and regulations.
• Inspects facilities and nursing practices for compliance with nursing standards and regulations.
• May assume interim MDS Coordinator role as needed.
• Train facility MDS on company best practices and coordination with Compliance Team.
• Lead facility management staff and consultants in developing a business plan for clinical operations.
• Develop and implement metrics and benchmarks for quality of care.
• Advise Clinical Support Team to maximize resident well-being.
• Develop and monitor quality management policies and QM reporting.
• Assess eligibility, referrals, case management and disease management systems within each clinical.
• Review clinic IT capabilities for standardized reporting across centers.
• Ensure RAI guidelines are followed with Medicare/Medicaid considerations.
