Job description

Regional Managing Director-(Seattle, Portland, Denver)

*This is a full-time, hybrid role requiring employees to work from their local Housing Connector office at least one day per week.

About Housing Connector

Housing Connector is a tech-for-good nonprofit expanding access to housing and helping people remain housed. We partner with property owners and managers to reduce barriers that prevent people from accessing housing, while providing financial protections and support that help residents and housing providers succeed.

Our model brings together property partners, community organizations, government, philanthropy, and technology to create simpler, more scalable pathways to housing. What started in Seattle in 2019 has grown into a multi-market organization with an ambitious vision: to deliver simple and scalable solutions until every person has a home.

Role Overview

The Regional Managing Director plays a critical leadership role in expanding Housing Connector’s impact and increasing housing security across the region. As the senior market leader, you will oversee operations across three established markets, leading market leaders and their teams with accountability for regional performance, strategy execution, partnership management, funding growth, and operational excellence.

Reporting to the COO, you will translate organizational strategy into clear regional priorities and measurable results. You will build and sustain senior-level relationships with property partners, community organizations, and public sector stakeholders, while ensuring consistent, effective operations. Building on Housing Connector’s success in existing markets, you will adapt proven practices to regional conditions and contribute insights and playbooks that support organizational improvement and future expansion. This role requires strategic judgment, strong people leadership, and the ability to bring structure to complexity while remaining hands‑on when needed.

Critical Job Functions

The following describe the core responsibilities of the role but are not intended to be an exhaustive list of duties:

  • Own overall regional performance, translating organizational strategy into market-level goals, operating plans, and clear team priorities in partnership with executive leadership.

  • Use dashboards, operational data, and partner feedback to assess results, identify underlying causes of performance gaps, and adjust priorities and resources. Ensure accurate, timely reporting on housing placements, placement timelines, partner engagement, and other agreed outcomes.

  • Build and manage senior‑level relationships with community organizations, property partners, and public sector stakeholders. Retain and strengthen existing property partnerships, coordinating with the Senior Director of Property Partnerships on new partner growth.

  • Strengthen funding relationships and advance opportunities to secure, renew, and diversify public and private revenue in partnership with executive leadership and the Investments & Funding team.

  • Oversee program quality and partner experience, resolving escalated challenges and ensuring consistent, responsive service across markets.

  • Hire, develop, and lead market leaders and their teams. Set clear expectations, provide actionable feedback, address performance challenges, and build a culture of accountability, learning, and impact.

  • Manage regional budgets and resource planning, monitor spending and forecasts, and align staffing and investment recommendations with organizational priorities.

  • Serve as a senior regional representative, leading market visibility and stakeholder engagement across government, community, and housing‑sector settings.

  • Adapt and improve operational processes while maintaining alignment with Housing Connector’s national operating model. Share market insights and proven practices to strengthen operations and inform future expansion.

What Success Looks Like

  • Strong regional results: Markets achieve agreed housing and operational goals, partners receive consistent support, and performance gaps lead to timely action.

  • An effective, engaged team: Market leaders and their teams operate with clear priorities, meaningful accountability, and the support and development needed to succeed.

  • Sustainable, improving operations: Regional budgets are managed responsibly, funding relationships support continued impact, and effective practices are shared across the organization.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Significant, progressively responsible leadership experience in regional operations, partnership‑driven services, or program delivery, including accountability for multiple markets, locations, or complex operational portfolios.

  • Demonstrated success translating strategy into operating plans and measurable results in a growing or rapidly evolving organization.

  • Strong people leadership experience, including leading managers, developing talent, addressing performance challenges, and building accountability across distributed teams.

  • Strong analytical judgment, including interpreting performance trends, assessing data quality, investigating underlying causes, and using findings to improve outcomes and allocate resources.

  • Experience managing senior‑level relationships across business, community, and public sector partners, navigating competing interests, and negotiating commitments.

  • Experience securing, renewing, or expanding public or private funding and connecting program outcomes to funder priorities.

  • Strong operational and financial acumen, including budget management, forecasting, resource planning, and sound decisions about competing priorities.

  • Clear, persuasive communication and sound judgment, with the ability to represent the organization externally, influence across departments, and resolve complex issues.
