Job summary

Bodycote plc is seeking a Senior Maintenance Technician to lead technical direction for equipment and facility installations across S3P NA locations. The role focuses on maintenance training, PM systems, and environmental and safety programs, with cost-control responsibilities.

The position requires extensive experience in industrial maintenance, strong troubleshooting, and the ability to read schematics and diagrams. Travel across North America and internationally may be required.

Qualifications

  • ITAR compliance requires U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status.
  • Degree in mechanical/electrical/industrial maintenance or equivalent.
  • 15+ years in industrial maintenance.
  • Experience in electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic or mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read equipment schematics and electrical diagrams.
  • Troubleshooting skills with mechanical equipment; analytical.
  • Willingness to expand knowledge through formal training.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency; ability to record maintenance data.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on technical assistance on projects for equipment and facility installations.
  • Provide field supervision for installation and start-up of equipment projects as directed.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and environmental standards for general programs.
  • Conduct site-specific maintenance training as directed.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and cost reductions.
  • Coordinate with equipment manufacturers and vendors to stay current on new capabilities.
  • Communicate with Senior General Manager and Corporate Engineering on progress and issues.
  • Follow EMS guidelines; perform other duties as assigned.

Summary

The Senior Maintenance Technician will provide technical and project direction for equipment and facility installations at all Bodycote S3P NA locations, as directed by the Sr. GM and with guidance from Head of S3P Engineering. Included in this scope of work are the assessment, development, improvement and implementation of equipment maintenance training, PM systems, and basic environmental and safety programs, workflow and cost control.

Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)
  • Provide hands-on technical assistance on projects for equipment and facility installations.
  • Provide field supervision for the installation and start-up of equipment and facility projects as directed by the Senior General Manager.
  • Provide guidance in order to meet current OSHA and environmental standards. This applies to general programs only.
  • Provide site specific maintenance training as directed.
  • Provide assistance in identifying and implementing process improvements and cost reductions.
  • Interface with equipment manufacturers and vendors in order to maintain a positive working relationship and remain current on new equipment capabilities and technology advancements.
  • Provide a valuable communication link to all levels of Bodycote, from corporate management through the divisional associates.
  • Provide both written and oral communication on an ongoing basis to both the Senior General Manager and Corporate Engineering.
  • Must work in a manner consistent with the EMS.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
  • Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures and accept constructive criticism.

Qualifications

  • This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements, therefore candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holder.
  • Education – College or technical degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial maintenance preferred; High school diploma or equivalent plus 15+ years industrial maintenance experience required
  • Experience – 15+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Demonstrated experience in 3 out of the 4 following areas:
    • Electrical
    • Pneumatic
    • Hydraulic
    • Mechanical Systems
  • Ability to read equipment schematics and electrical diagrams
  • Must possess troubleshooting skills with mechanical equipment and be analytical
  • Willingness to expand knowledge to other related areas through formal training
  • Ability to use the appropriate systems to record maintenance data, order maintenance materials, etc.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be self-directed individual capable of multi-purpose activities.
Physical & Mental Demands
  • Must be able to work in a sitting position for extended periods of time (at desk, while driving, and/or on airplane travel) in an office/industrial environment.
  • Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
  • Ability to bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions.
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs.
  • May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.
  • Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
  • Ability to hear in person and via phone.
  • Must be able to travel between North America Bodycote locations and internationally as needed.
