Job summary

WITRON is seeking an Operations Optimization Manager in Belvidere, IL to strengthen operational excellence across sites by developing standardized processes and driving continuous improvement. You will collaborate with Production, Maintenance, and Project teams to ensure maturity and safety goals are met.

The role requires hands-on leadership in fast-paced automated environments, coaching teams, and using MS Office tools for planning and reporting. Travel up to 100% may be needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in Operations Management, Industrial Technology, Engineering, or related field or formal certification/training.
  • 3–5 years of experience leading teams in a production or automated environment.
  • Strong understanding of production workflows and performance metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze data from multiple sources to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for optimization.
  • Review and improve operational workflows to reduce waste, increase efficiency, and enhance quality, safety, and performance.
  • Identify root causes of underperformance and develop corrective action plans; monitor progress until performance stabilizes.
  • Design, document, and implement standardized operational processes and ensure SOPs are clear and adopted.
  • Conduct site-level assessments of production flow, staffing, material movement, and performance metrics.
  • Support new/underperforming sites with layout design, workflows, and staffing models.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align improvement initiatives and lead change management.
  • Travel up to 100% to support projects and onsite teams; perform other duties as assigned.

Your Role In Our Team

As an Operations Optimization Manager at WITRON, you play a leading role in strengthening operational excellence across all sites by developing standardized processes, supporting new project startups, enabling knowledge transfer, and driving continuous improvement. You work closely with production, Maintenance and Project teams, operations leadership, and CI teams to ensure operational maturity is achieved quickly and consistently across the organization. You serve as a resource for new and struggling sites, providing training, analysis, best practice implementation, and coordination of support resources. Ideal candidate profile: You are a hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced, automated environments and knows how to keep teams aligned with safety and performance goals. You coach with purpose, communicate clearly across departments, and use Microsoft Office tools to support planning and performance tracking. Organized and dependable, you bring structure and clarity to your shift, ensuring your team has the support and direction needed to succeed.

Qualifications

Associate degree or higher in Operations Management, Industrial Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field, or formal certification/training in manufacturing, production systems, or industrial safety

Skills/Experience Required

  • 3–5 years of experience leading teams in a production or automated environment
  • Strong understanding of production workflows and performance metrics
  • Ability to monitor systems and ensure production targets are met
  • Familiarity with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) practices (preferred)
  • Skilled in coaching and developing team members with a focus on safety and company values
  • Experience escalating and resolving mechanical or IT-related faults
  • Effective communication with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Excel and other Office tools to support production planning, reporting, and team communication.
  • Proficient in creating and analyzing reports based on KPIs and production goals
  • Working knowledge of time and attendance systems and basic payroll support
  • Capable of managing staffing coverage and resource allocation
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Organized, dependable, and adaptable in a fast-paced operational setting

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Production, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, CI, Training, and Operations) to align improvement initiatives.
  • Lead change management efforts to ensure successful adoption of optimized processes.
  • Manage Site Optimization personnel and coordinate project support teams; develop tailored support plans based on site needs.
  • Deliver training and on‑the‑floor coaching to supervisors and leadership teams to embed operational standards and best practices.
  • Apply Continuous Improvement methodologies (Lean, Kaizen, RCA, PDCA) to prioritize and execute improvement initiatives aligned with business goals.
  • Track operational performance across sites, identify recurring issues, and provide leadership with data‑driven insights and reports.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and best‑practice deployment across sites to accelerate organizational learning.
  • Serve as an operational advisor to project teams, ensuring long‑term operational maturity is considered in decision‑making.
  • Participate in CI meetings, monitor initiative impact, and follow up to ensure measurable and sustainable improvements.
  • Travel up to 100% as required to support projects and onsite teams
  • Perform other duties as assigned
