Job summary

The North Carolina Biotechnology Center (NCBiotech) seeks an Executive Director for the Asheville regional office to implement strategic initiatives advancing regional biotech and life sciences development.

Responsibilities include building an Advisory Committee, leading regional program development, managing the annual budget, and collaborating with state partners to grow jobs, investment and innovation across Western NC.

Qualifications

• Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in business, life sciences, or public policy with at least eight years of progressively senior experience in business, economic development, project management, or policy administration.
• Preferred: Master’s degree with ten years of relevant experience.
• Executive Director must reside in the region in question.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and management of the regional life sciences economic development framework for Western NC.
• Build and engage an Advisory Committee within the region including key partners from industry, academia, government and economic development.
• Coordinate with regional/state partners to drive jobs, investment and innovation in life sciences.
• Work with teams across NCBiotech to enhance regional impact and ecosystem growth.
• Manage the regional office budget and partner with FIT/RISE-NC to advance initiatives.
