Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a Landfill Gas Engineering Manager to lead design, operation, and maintenance of gas collections and energy systems in the South Region. You will oversee data management, regulatory interfaces, and safety programs.

The role requires experience with landfill gas infrastructure, strong collaboration with regulators and consultants, and a focus on cost-effective, compliant solutions. This on-site Illinois position offers competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in landfill gas management or equivalent.
• Experience designing and operating landfill gas control systems.
• Knowledge of earthwork and HDPE pipe welding for landfill gas infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Provide internal technical expertise related to landfill gas infrastructure development, operation and maintenance.
• Coordinate and oversee the landfill gas management program for the South Region and regional data base.
• Plan and manage construction projects for landfill gas infrastructure.
• Maintain compliance with internal standards for landfill gas construction.
• Support capital planning and fiscal responsibility for gas infrastructure operations.
• Assist with permit applications and designs, including regulatory interfaces and site expansions.
• Provide engineering reviews focused on safety, design, quality, and cost savings.
• Prepare monthly status reports and analyze data for feedback.
• Oversee and develop post-collection management team on landfill gas topics.
• Engage with regulatory agencies and participate in related meetings.
• Contribute to safety, HSE, and standards adherence across operations.
