Job summary

You will manage the full employee lifecycle, payroll coordination, workforce planning, and employee engagement in a fast-paced unionized setting, partnering with operations to align HR strategy with company goals.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive HR management experience.
• 3-5 years in unionized environments, including labor relations.
• Experience with HRIS and payroll systems; knowledge of employment law.
• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Admin, or related field (or equivalent).
• Ability to obtain industry credentials and site access certifications.

Vaco has an exciting opportunity for a Regional HR Manager in Baltimore, Maryland. This is a direct hire role that sits 100% onsite with 25% travel to multi-site locations.

About the Role

A leading provider of transportation, logistics, and cargo-handling services is seeking a Regional Human Resources Manager to support a multi-site operation across several U.S. locations. This position will provide both strategic and hands‑on HR leadership in a fast‑paced, unionized environment, overseeing the full employee lifecycle, labor relations, compliance, payroll coordination, workforce planning, and employee engagement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive Human Resources management experience
• 3-5 years of experience in unionized environments, including labor relations and union dues administration (required)
• Experience with HRIS and payroll systems
• Strong knowledge of employment law and HR compliance requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Ability to obtain industry-required credentials and site access certifications
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
• Experience supporting transportation, logistics, manufacturing, distribution, or industrial operations
• Professional HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or equivalent

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Demonstrated, hands‑on labor relations experience, including grievance management, collective bargaining agreement interpretation, union communication, and contract administration
• Comfortable serving as the primary HR leader for multiple locations with significant day‑to‑day operational involvement
• Willing to work onsite and travel regularly to support regional facilities
• Available to start within a short timeframe
