Job summary

The New Mexico Department of Health, Northeast Region Public Health Office, seeks a Regional HIV/STD Health Educator to support HIV, STD, hepatitis, harm reduction, and overdose prevention initiatives across ten counties, coordinating with local partners and Tribal and federal entities.

You will train staff, ensure timely data entry to CDC systems, distribute harm reduction supplies, and participate in outreach events like health fairs and Pride, while reporting to regional leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Public Health or Education required.
• One year of experience in a health-related field or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• Five years total education/experience may substitute for the degree requirement.

Responsibilities

• Provide training and technical assistance to Disease Prevention Team staff to meet HIV/STD/ hepatitis and harm reduction objectives.
• Coordinate care and support for clients across NMDOH and partner organizations.
• Ensure timely monthly HIV data entry and reporting to CDC systems.
• Order and distribute harm reduction supplies to community partners to reduce transmission and overdoses.
• Coordinate community outreach events such as health fairs and Pride events to promote HIV/STD testing and prevention.
