Job summary

The Community Library’s Jeanne Rodger Lane Center for Regional History seeks an Exhibits & Collections Manager to lead interpretive storytelling through the Wood River Museum’s collections. The role defines the exhibit program, manages objects, and develops rotating exhibitions with a focus on Central Idaho history and Hemingway-related materials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in museum studies, humanities, history, or related field.
• Experience communicating with the public in a museum, library, or education setting.
• Experience handling 2-D and 3-D artifacts.
• Training or experience in exhibit development.
• Strong computer skills with MS Office 365, databases, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Execute dynamic museum exhibits under the direction of the Center for Regional History Director.
• Coordinate and execute exhibits about central Idaho history.
• Support preservation and education work at Hemingway House and Preserve.
• Oversee preparation of exhibited objects (owned and loaned).
• Maintain PastPerfect and other collection management databases.
• Photograph museum objects.
• Create condition reports for collection objects.
• Research and write exhibit labels and interpretative materials.
• Provide excellent visitor service.
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Work independently and in a production-oriented team environment.
• Adhere to collection management policies.
• Proficiency with metadata standards in archives, museums, and special collections.
