Job summary

The Community Library’s Jeanne Rodger Lane Center for Regional History seeks an Exhibits & Collections Manager to lead interpretive storytelling through the Wood River Museum’s collections. This role defines the exhibit program, manages objects, and develops rotating exhibitions focused on Central Idaho history and the American West.

Reports to the Director and collaborates with the department team; requires care for collections, public engagement, and strong collaboration across disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in museum studies, humanities, history, or related field.
  • Experience communicating with the public in a museum, library, education setting, or customer service setting.
  • Experience handling 2-D and 3-D artifacts.
  • Training or experience in exhibit development.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office 365, database software, and Adobe Creative Suite; willingness to learn.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication skills under pressure.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy.
  • Experience fostering an atmosphere of diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Library team to execute dynamic museum exhibits under leadership of the Center for Regional History Director.
  • Assist with coordination and execution of museum exhibits about central Idaho history.
  • Assist with preservation and education work at Hemingway House and Preserve.
  • Oversee preparation of exhibited objects, owned or on loan.
  • Maintain PastPerfect and other databases for collection records.
  • Photograph museum objects.
  • Create condition reports for museum collection objects.
  • Provide excellent visitor service.
  • Conduct inventory work to advance collection management.
  • Practice library, archives, and museum preservation and conservation standards.
  • Adhere to collection management policies.
  • Research and write exhibit labels and interpretive materials.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Work independently and collaboratively in a production-oriented team environment.
  • Be proficient with metadata standards for archives, museums, and special collections.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
