Job summary

Houchens Industries seeks a Regional Operations Leader to oversee day-to-day performance across a designated grocery region in the United States. You will ensure adherence to standards, drive efficiency, and manage payroll and labor planning while collaborating with Store Managers and Area Leaders.

The role includes supporting remodels, new store openings, acquisitions, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Travel within the region and leadership development are key components of this position.

Qualifications

• Experience leading multiple stores or regions in grocery/multi-unit retail.
• Strong payroll and labor management experience and compliance.
• Proven ability to influence KPIs and P&L drivers.
• Experience with remodels, openings, acquisitions, and integrations.
• Excellent leadership, coaching, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operational performance across a designated region of grocery stores, ensuring adherence to company standards, policies, and procedures.
• Drive operational effectiveness through best practices in store operations, merchandising, food safety, shrink control, and customer service.
• Analyze KPIs (sales, margin, shrink, labor, inventory turns, customer satisfaction) and implement action plans to improve results.
• Partner with Store Managers and District/Area Leaders to identify performance gaps and develop corrective strategies.
• Ensure compliance with all regulations, including labor laws, health codes, and safety standards.
• Oversee regional payroll management, including labor budgeting, forecasting, and scheduling effectiveness.
• Coach store leadership on effective labor planning and payroll controls.
• Lead remodel projects, new store openings, and acquisitions, ensuring on-time and on-budget execution.
• Prepare operational reports and recommendations for RVP and senior leadership.
• Act as liaison between store operations and corporate support teams; communicate initiatives clearly.
