Job summary

Manulife Forest Management seeks a seasoned forest manager to oversee timberland assets in New Hampshire and Maine, with emphasis on northern hardwoods and a lesser role for spruce and fir. The role emphasizes stewardship, stakeholder engagement, and compliance with BMPs, SFI/FSC standards, and conservation obligations.

You will lead timber harvesting planning, marketing, road work, and silvicultural prescriptions, while guiding budget development, reporting, and team supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in forestry or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years supervisory experience desirable.
• Proficient in northern hardwood, spruce, fir and mixed cover types; knowledge of financial concepts.
• Valid NH driver’s license and forester licensure status preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain service-oriented relationships with MIMT/MIMFM staff and clients.
• Lead stakeholder engagement and community outreach; ensure transparent communication.
• Oversee safety, budgeting, planning, and reporting for the area.
• Direct timber harvesting operations, including planning, layout, contracts, and inspections.
• Market timber products and manage delivery logistics; develop new markets.
