Job summary

The Wonderful Company is seeking a Manager of Engineering to lead regional building engineering operations in the Sacramento area. You will oversee preventive maintenance programs, budgets, CAFs, and long-term capital planning across a portfolio of office buildings totaling hundreds of thousands of square feet.

You will mentor Engineers and Maintenance Technicians, coordinate vendor performance, and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards while driving asset longevity and cost

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in facilities maintenance, building engineering, or engineering operations.
• Experience leading maintenance and engineering operations across multiple commercial properties.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, elevators, fire/life safety systems, structural systems, and building finishes.
• Experience with capital planning, budget forecasting, preventive maintenance program development, and asset lifecycle management.
• Proficiency with CMMS platforms and maintenance reporting/analytics tools.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, mentor engineering staff, and manage vendor performance.
• Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and strategic planning skills.
• OSHA 30 Certification required.
• Relevant trade certification(s) required to evaluate and approve technical scopes of work.
• Bachelor's/FA degree preferred in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field.
• Travel up to 25% outside the Sacramento region.

Responsibilities

• Lead regional engineering operations for a portfolio of buildings within the Sacramento area.
• Develop and manage 10-year repair and maintenance forecasts, annual budgets, and capital planning.
• Prepare, track, and obtain management approval for CAFs, PM plans, schedules, and proposals.
• Develop, maintain, and standardize preventive maintenance scopes and documentation.
• Evaluate building systems and asset life cycles to support planning and investments.
• Coordinate engineering assessments and present recommendations to management.
• Oversee vendor performance, project execution, site access, and safety compliance.
• Maintain records of building assets, maintenance activities, and repair timelines.
• Mentor Maintenance Engineers and Technicians without direct supervisory responsibility.
