Job summary

Southern University Shreveport, Inc is seeking a Regional Extension Outreach Agent – Central Louisiana (C-LA) to design, implement, and evaluate education programs across youth development, agriculture, nutrition, and community and economic development. The role covers multiple parishes and involves collaboration with schools and community partners.

Travel throughout the region, evening/weekend work as needed, and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Family and Consumer Sciences, Education, Community Development, or a related field.
• Minimum of one (1) year of relevant professional experience.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational and facilitation skills.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse audiences.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Competence with digital tools used for education, communication, and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate educational programs in youth development, sustainable agriculture, natural resource management, nutrition, and community and economic development.
• Design and deliver culturally relevant, inclusive educational materials and activities.
• Collaborate with local schools, community organizations, governmental agencies, and partners to expand program reach.
• Lead youth development programs, including 4-H initiatives, focused on leadership and career readiness.
• Implement nutrition and wellness programs promoting healthy eating and food security.
• Partner with organizations to reduce health disparities and improve access to nutritious foods.
• Facilitate community development programs that strengthen rural and urban communities.
• Engage stakeholders to identify priorities and develop Extension programs.
• Collect, maintain, and analyze program data to measure outcomes and impact.
• Maintain records and prepare newsletters, reports, and success stories for outreach.
