Block is one company built from many blocks, all united by the same purpose of economic empowerment. The blocks that form our foundational teams — People, Finance, Counsel, Hardware, Information Security, Platform Infrastructure Engineering, and more — provide support and guidance at the corporate level. They work across business groups and around the globe, spanning time zones and disciplines to develop inclusive People policies, forecast finances, give legal counsel, safeguard systems, nurture new initiatives, and more. Every challenge creates possibilities, and we need different perspectives to see them all. Bring yours to Block.

The Role

The Regional Event Manager (REM) will manage events in their region in collaboration with different partner organizations. This includes but is not limited to Team Onsites or Offsites, External Events, and company-wide initiatives.

Reporting to the Global Internal Event Lead, you will lead and consult, depending on the event scope and needs of the group hosting the event. You will review all event requests and assign events based on the type of event, often planning multiple events simultaneously. You will work with local experience teams to ensure events have adequate day-of support.

This role can be based remotely but will support our east coast offices.

You Will
  1. In partnership with Regional Event Managers, review all requests submitted in thego/eventrequest and triage accordingly.
  2. Manage all assigned go/eventrequests tickets and calendaring. Assign subtasks to cross-functional partners (AV, IT, Trust & Safety, Workplace, etc.) as needed to ensure smooth execution and adequate "day-of" support.
  3. Plan and execute assigned company-wide events in partnership with onboarded global agencies, including venue selection, activations, give-back, communications, leadership engagement, and feedback.
  4. Partner with Global Event Lead and Regional Event Managers to create and maintain cohesive event management resources.
  5. Partner with Board Liaison to plan and execute Board of Directors meetings within the region, including room setup, food & beverage, transportation, special events, and supplies.
  6. Provide in-person event support for executive or large team events, traveling up to 25% of the year.
  7. Lead onboarding, communication, and maintenance with preferred vendors within the region.
  8. Build an inventory list of event-related supplies in the region's offices for items available to requestors.
  9. Collaborate with AV, Centers of Excellence (CoE), IT, Trust & Safety, and Workplace Experience teams to foster a cohesive global event program.
  10. Partner with Global Event Lead to enhance employee event experiences, including piloting new tools/technology, participating in working groups for global initiatives, and managing special projects as needed.
  11. Evaluate program effectiveness and provide feedback for improvements.
You Have
  • Over 4 years of experience in event management or similar roles (corporate events within large-scale tech companies are a bonus).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong collaborator with partner organizations, adaptable to leading or contributing to projects to achieve goals.
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and change; able to think quickly and pivot as needed.
  • Confidence in communicating with senior leadership and team leads.
  • Experience working with communication and web design (e.g., presentations, signage, event brochures, email).
  • Project management experience—prioritizing events, timely responses, and tracking.
  • Strong customer service experience.
