Job Summary

A Regional Engineering Manager is responsible for all engineering-related activities in their designated region, including overseeing and executing complex lift and transport projects from concept to completion. This role involves leading engineering efforts for the planning, design, and implementation of rigging, crane, and alternative load handling equipment operations, ensuring projects meet client specifications, safety standards, and timelines. Responsibilities include managing engineers in the region, serving as the engineering liaison between the region’s branches and the Service Center, contributing to continuous improvement efforts, promoting Barnhart’s culture across the branches, and driving innovative solutions that enhance operational efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness in crane and rigging projects. Additionally, this role involves conducting detailed engineering analyses, developing and reviewing project plans, and selecting appropriate equipment and rigging configurations. The Regional Engineering Manager will collaborate closely with the regional director, branch managers, project managers, site teams, and clients to provide technical expertise, address on-site challenges, ensure regulatory compliance, and properly identify and mitigate operational risks.

Job Requirements

• Experience: 10+ years of experience in the crane, rigging, or heavy lifting industry, with demonstrated project engineering experience, including 4+ years of leadership experience
• Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license for required states in the region (or ability to obtain them), OSHA 10
• Technical Proficiency: Ability to perform detailed load calculations and structural analyses; proficiency with CAD, 3D modeling software, and industry-specific tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Lift Planner, etc.; strong knowledge of OSHA, AISC, ASME, ANSI standards
• Software Proficiency: Engineering software (RISA-3D, Ansys, Mathcad Prime, MS Excel), ERP systems, scheduling software, Microsoft Office Suite
• Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Diagnosing and resolving technical and logistical issues, engineering calculations, lift plan optimization, safety documentation
• Communication: Strong verbal and written skills, experience in technical report and lift plan presentations
• Project Management: Managing budgets, schedules, risks, and mentoring engineers
• Leadership: Demonstrated management skills, commitment to schedule and goal achievement, Servant Leadership style
• Physical Requirements: Willingness to travel, work in outdoor and construction environments, conduct on-site inspections
• Fit for Duty: Pass drug test, background check, and fitness assessment

Job Responsibilities
