Job summary

DHL Supply Chain is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to oversee operational processes across 10–15 sites in the US. You will provide engineering leadership, drive continuous improvement programs, and manage budgets, design layouts, and system integration.

• Three to five years of project management experience in a Distribution/Fulfillment and/or engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage delivery of consistent operational processes and results for 10–15 sites across the US.
• Provide engineering expertise, leadership to site-based engineers, and budgeting, scheduling, line layouts, cost estimating and control.
• Lead stage gate process for CI and innovation projects from opportunity ID through delivery and stabilization.
• Develop CI roadmap aligned with sector strategy and manage external vendors for engineering projects.
• Lead and direct large multi-site CI projects and partner with customers to define requirements.

Job Description

To oversee and manage the delivery of consistent operational processes and results for a 10 – 15 sites across the US. Provides engineering expertise, and related functions to site based Engineers. Leads scope definition, design, budgeting, scheduling, line layouts, purchasing, cost estimating and control, implementation, system integration, documentation, report writing, start-up, and training. Provides leadership and direction to lower level engineering staff. Regional Engineering managers would be progressing the Sector engineering & innovation strategy and ensure consistency across the BU.

• Responsible for defining, developing, implementing, and managing the stage gate process for the implementation of process based continuous improvement & innovation projects from opportunity identification through delivery/stabilization.
• Develops, maintains, and executes the CI roadmap that aligns with sector strategy, accounting for both internal and external process and financial improvement.
• Directs and performs project management and engineering functions, including (but not limited to): scope definition, design, budgeting, scheduling, line layouts, purchasing, cost estimating and control, implementation, system integration, documentation, report writing, start-up and training.
• Design and install safe mechanical and automated systems and processes.
• Manage, Lead, Support and Develop the Field Engineering team within sector operations across the USA and Canada
• Select and manage outside engineering as required to meet project, customer, product, and capacity requirements. Selects and manages use of external vendors and contractors for engineering and maintenance-related projects.
• Stays abreast of technology enhancements within the industry. Considered expert by others within the field.
• Provides management of Project Engineers, Senior Project Engineers and/or Engineering Technicians as assigned, including People Management responsibilities before.
• Leads and directs large, multi-site continuous improvement projects and implementation of solutions.
• Partners with customer to develop requirements and define solution sets.
• Partners with Business Development on potential new business to determine engineering impact.
• Develops business cases related to capital projects, including associated project plans and cost estimates. Navigates approval processes and manages installation of capital improvements.

Required Education And Experience

• BS degree in an engineering field, with particular emphasis on Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Facilities, and/or Maintenance Engineering, required
• 7+ years of experience in engineering, with particular emphasis on complex distribution center implementation projects or engineering management, required
• Three to five years of project management experience in a Distribution/Fulfillment and/or engineering environment, required
