Job summary

Intertek in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Regional Engineer - Geotechnical to lead geotechnical engineering efforts across diverse transportation and infrastructure projects. You will mentor staff, coordinate with senior engineers, and maintain strong client relationships.

The role requires a Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering, a NC P.E. license or ability to obtain, and 10+ years of experience. Join a national team delivering high-quality QA and consulting services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from ABET-accredited school and Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
• 10+ years of geotechnical engineering experience.
• North Carolina P.E. license or ability to obtain in state of employment.
• Proficient in GeoStudio, APILE, LPILE, GROUP, SHAFT, Plaxis, Midas, SLIDE, Settle3D, and MSEW.

Responsibilities

• Provides geotechnical engineering support on transportation and infrastructure projects.
• Performs assignments using standard geotechnical techniques and engineering judgment.
• Interprets laboratory and field test results and makes recommendations.
• Prepares and reviews geotechnical reports per specifications and scope of work.
• Assigns work to staff and coordinates with Principal Consultant/Chief Engineer.
• Engages with clients and develops new project opportunities.
• Attends client site meetings and communicates with project teams.

How you’ll make an impact at Intertek:

• Provides geotechnical engineering support onmultiple projecttypes such asTransportation and/or Infrastructure Related Projects,“big box” type developments, multi-family developments, Vertical Rise Constructions, intra-environmental projects, power/utility developments, and other geotechnical related projects.


• Performs a variety of assignments that include independent evaluations using standard geotechnical engineeringtechniques, procedures and criteria, using engineering judgments to make minor adoptions and modifications during the course of work.


• Makes interpretations, decisions and recommendations in reference to laboratory and fieldtest report results, project field circumstances and inspections.


• Prepares and reviewsgeotechnicalreports for projects as perspecifications and project scope of work.


• Assigns work /tasks to staff as applicable.


• Utilizes local and remote staff as applicable to accomplish work/tasks and develop staff employees.


• Prepares scopes, budgets, and schedules for task assignments.


• Reviews recommendations with project designated Principal Consultant and/orChief Engineer.


• Engages,maintains and leverages client relationships and develops new project opportunities.


• Attends client site meetings.


• Communicates effectively and timelywith client and project teams andattend client office and site meetings as appropriate.


• Trains and mentorstechnical staff.


• May perform on-site observations, or inspections.


• Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work.

What it takes to be successful in this role:

• Bachelor'sDegree from accredited engineering / ABET school AND Master’sDegree in Geotechnical EngineeringareRequired


• 10+years' of experience is required


• NorthCarolina P.E. License is required or ability to obtain in State of residence of employment and adjacent States as needed


• Proficient in GeoStudio,APILE,LPILE, GROUP, SHAFT, Plaxis, Midas, SLIDE, Settle3D, and MSEW, and other proprietary Geotechnical Engineering Analysissoftware


• Obtain Principal Consultant status internally (CS 5 years’ experience/Geo 8 years’ experience)


• Effective communication skills (written, verbal and listening) and solid interpersonal skills are required


• Candidates must have very strong communication skills and the ability to work with a team across the nation and the world


• Ability to work off shifts and overtime
