Job summary

Devon Self Storage is seeking a Regional Director to coach and lead up to 20 locations and up to 40 direct reports. You will work with the Director of Operations to shape policies, manage performance, and drive portfolio growth.

The role requires strong leadership, a track record in multi-site management, and a hands-on approach to mentoring General Managers. A hybrid schedule with travel up to 50% is offered, plus a base salary with a bonus program.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience at multi-site level.
• 3-5 years of related experience in self-storage or multi-unit management.
• Must reside in Wisconsin or Illinois or be willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Regional Director based out of (Wisconsin or Illinois) As a Regional Director you’ll coach and inspire store teams, partner closely with the Director of Operations, and help shape the policies and systems that keep our business running strong—overseeing up to 20 locations and leading as many as 40 direct reports. At Devon Self Storage, you will:

Lead The Business

• Lead, coach, and develop high-performing store teams
• Ensure consistent application of company and operational policies by providing hands‑on guidance, reinforcing best practices, and serving as a resource for Store Managers.
• Oversee the financial and physical performance of assigned properties, including P&L ownership, CAPEX planning and execution, revenue management strategies, and initiatives that drive portfolio growth and operational efficiency.
• Build and sustain a culture rooted in teamwork, optimism, and accountability, maintaining strong relationships with Store Managers and Regional Operations staff through regular field presence and virtual engagement.
• Lead by example with strong organization, an analytical mindset, and timely execution of deliverables.
• Partner with store teams to identify trends and remove obstacles impacting KPI performance, applying thoughtful decision‑making to resolve issues and improve operational outcomes.
• Set clear expectations and hold teams accountable for policy compliance, operational standards, and the successful execution of regional and company‑wide initiatives.
• Manage vendor partnerships related to auctions, including coordination of legal approvals, compliance requirements, and guiding store teams through each step of the auction process to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Partner with the recruitment team tointerview and hire great people who will grow with the company.

Coach & Develop

Coach General Managers and Assistant General Managers through regular one‑on‑one check‑ins, and performance reviews to strengthen leadership capability and operational execution.

• Develop bench strength and succession plans by identifying high‑potential team members and preparing them for future General Manager or multi‑site leadership roles.
• Set clear performance expectations and KPIs and coach leaders on how to achieve and sustain results
• Provide real‑time feedback and corrective coaching
• Support onboarding and ramp‑up of new hires, partnering with Training and HR to ensure new team members are confident, productive, and engaged quickly.

What We’re Looking For

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (associate’s degree or higher preferred)
• MUST reside in Wisconsin or Illinoisor must be willing to relocate without assistance.
• 3-5 years of related experience in self‑storage or multi‑unit management
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
• Ability to demonstrate exceptional leadership, team management and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to demonstrate managing multiple site locations with sales, profitability, and operational responsibilities.
• Ability to demonstrate contribution to the significant growth and success of an organization.
• Strong ability to multi‑task and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to show problem solving and conflict resolutions skills.
• 3-5 years of direct experience in self‑storage multi‑unit management
