Job summary

WSB, a design and consulting firm, is seeking a Director of Transportation Engineering in Denver to lead Colorado and the Southwest/West region. You will own business development, client relationships, and project delivery, turning connections into revenue and backlog.

You will guide multi-disciplinary teams, provide senior technical direction, and oversee project delivery while ensuring quality and compliance. This is a senior leadership role with regional impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited school.
• 12 to 15 years of transportation engineering experience across planning, design, and delivery.
• Direct experience with CDOT, including familiarity with standards and local projects.
• Broad transportation background in roadway, highway, and multimodal projects.
• Strong network in the Colorado transportation community and proven BD ability.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and projects.
• Based in the Denver metro area or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Lead WSB’s transportation practice across Colorado and the Southwest/West.
• Grow transportation revenue by winning work with CDOT and regional partners.
• Build long-term client relationships and position WSB as a trusted partner.
• Lead pursuits from initial conversation to signed contracts.
• Find creative paths to yes, including utilization of state, federal, and grant funding.
• Translate growth strategy into annual operating plans and revenue targets.
• Own the region’s financial performance, budgets, and resource planning.
• Plan work and hire people, leading workforce planning and compensation.
• Lead, coach, and develop project managers and transportation engineers.
• Provide senior technical direction and serve as Engineer of Record on select projects.
• Oversee multi-discipline projects from proposal to closeout, managing risk and quality.
