Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Regional Safety Engineer to own the Health and Safety function for a designated area in Sterling, VA. You will improve data center safety, advance safety culture, and partner with engineers, security, construction, operations, compliance, HR, and contractors to meet safety goals.

You will collaborate with construction managers to identify risks before live operations and support a fast‑paced environment with evolving infrastructure and processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Knowledge of global environmental, health and safety regulations.
• Experience owning projects and communicating timelines independently.
• Experience working with cross‑functional teams.
• 3+ years of risk or safety management in high‑hazard settings.

Responsibilities

• Implement health and safety standards, policies and practices including risk assessments.
• Conduct health and safety audits of data centers and active construction sites.
• Ensure compliance with global health and safety programs and regulations.
• Develop health and safety plans for on‑site emergencies and business continuity.
• Maintain safety records and data integrity.
• Perform data trend analysis for leadership to support safety initiatives.
• Collaborate with the AWS compliance team for interpretations and guidance.
• Identify risks and coordinate with Operations to mitigate controls.
• Interact daily with customers providing health and safety guidance.
