Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Regional Safety Engineer to own the Health and Safety function for a specified data center region. You will improve worker safety, advance safety culture, and collaborate with data center engineers, security, operations, logistics, compliance, and HR to advance the global health and safety program.

The role involves partnering with construction managers to mitigate risks before live operations and supporting a fast-changing infrastructure environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
• Knowledge of global environmental, health and safety regulations.
• Experience owning projects and communicating timelines independently.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams.
• 3+ years of risk management or safety management in high-hazard environments.

Responsibilities

• Implement health and safety standards, policies and practices including safety management systems, training, risk assessments, and industrial hygiene assessments.
• Conduct health and safety audits of data centers and active construction sites for compliance with health, life safety, and safety requirements.
• Ensure compliance and implementation of global health and safety programs that exceed regulatory requirements.
• Develop health and safety plans for on-site emergencies, business continuity, and other events.
• Maintain safety record-keeping and data integrity.
• Perform data trend analysis to present to cluster leadership to support safety initiatives.
• Consult with AWS compliance for interpretations and guidance.
• Identify risks and partner with Operations to remediate via the hierarchy of controls.
• Daily interactions with customers delivering health and safety guidance.
