Job summary

Merck & Co. is seeking a Regional Medical Scientific Director (MSL) in Respiratory - COPD to advance strategic medical affairs priorities. The credentialed leader will engage with national and regional scientific leaders to provide balanced, science-based information and support investigator-initiated research.

The role emphasizes scientific exchange, research planning, and congress support, with up to 50% travel across the US territory. Residence within the Chicago region is preferred.

Qualifications

• PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD required.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant therapeutic area experience beyond the terminal degree, COPD/Respiratory preferred.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and networking skills.
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of FDA, OIG, HIPAA guidelines relevant to pharma.

Responsibilities

• Develops professional relationships with national/regional SLs for access to approved medical information.
• Conducts peer-to-peer scientific discussions and maintains a medical contact network within the company.
• Addresses scientific questions and directs inquiries to appropriate resources.
• Maintains knowledge of scientific environment in the AOI for the therapeutic area.
