Job summary

Vortex Companies is seeking a Regional Controller to provide financial leadership across three business units in Iowa, Minnesota, and Montana. You will partner with regional operations, project managers, payroll, and Corporate Finance to strengthen reporting, controls, and profitability.

The ideal candidate will drive job cost accounting, monthly closes, forecasts, and cash flow while improving accounting practices as the business grows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience in construction.
• Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, journal entries, and monthly close.
• Proficiency with Excel and ERP systems.
• Detail-oriented and accountable.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with operations teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable balancing hands-on execution with process improvement and operational support.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial leadership for three business units in IA, MN, and MT.
• Partner with regional leaders, project managers, and operations teams.
• Develop understanding of each unit's operations and financial performance.
• Provide analyses to support operational and strategic decisions.
• Review results with leaders and explain variances.
• Identify risks and opportunities to improve profitability.
