Job summary

Surgery Partners, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Medical Billing Specialist to manage charge capture, verify insurance eligibility, and obtain pre‑authorizations.

You will counsel patients on insurance and payment options prior to surgery and ensure accurate entry of all eligibility data into the billing system. The role requires experience with CPT/ICD‑10 coding, strong communication skills, and proficiency with medical terminology.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Experience: 2 years of medical collections; familiarity with billing software.
• License/Certification: Regional Collector

• Registers patients in the system.
• Collects and revises all patient insurance information.
• Collects co‑pays, deductibles and other out‑of‑pocket amounts at the time of service.
• Posts approved adjustments to patient accounts.
• Balances receipts, reconciles daily work batches and prepares audit trails.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Experience: 2 years of medical collections experience; knowledge of computer systems and Microsoft Office; experience with medical practice billing software.
• License/Certification: Regional Collector

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD‑10 coding and electronic billing required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with center management, staff, patients, their families, physicians, and their staff.
• Proficient in medical terminology.
• Ability to handle frequent interruptions and re‑evaluate priorities as needed.
• Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
