POSITION SUMMARY:
This regional opportunity will be based in Des Moines, IA. The driver will be hauling dedicated Andersen freight, delivering our windows and doors to our dealers, distribution centers and construction job sites. This position requires a wide range of skills from practicing safe driving and delivery to top-notch customer service.

  • Monday - Friday, home every weekend!
  • Opportunity for weekend work.
  • Dedicated Andersen Freight – Regional delivery routes with only 2 – 3 nights out per week.
  • Hourly pay plus incentives!
  • Eligible for overtime over 40 hours.
  • Safety Incentive - Quarterly.
  • Paid Uniform - Annually.
  • Boot program - Annually.
  • Training - As a new driver you will be working with an experienced driver learning the routes, customers and the product.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safely assist in the loading and unloading of the product to customer’s location and/or return products.
  • Perform frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying of windows and doors of varying weights.
  • Drive truck to destinations in accordance with Federal regulations.
  • Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicle at varying speed in difficult situations.
  • Maintain records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Professional representation of the Andersen Corporation.
  • Able to answer questions regarding packing lists, invoices, packaging and material content.

QUALIFICATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License and doubles endorsement if twin trailers are pulled.
  • Have an acceptable accident and moving violation Motor Vehicle Record.
  • 2 years’ previous tractor-trailer driving experience including winter driving experience.
  • Ability to read, write and perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Good oral communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and take directions.
  • Working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems.
  • Knowledge of D.O.T. regulations.
  • Meet or exceed the medical standards of the U.S. Department of Transportation.
  • Satisfactorily pass a drug test.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit and remain alert while driving for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to shift manual transmission and operate foot pedals.
  • Ability to perform frequent squatting or crouching.
  • Able to perform frequent pushing or pulling of windows and doors weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Able to frequently carry windows and doors weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to frequently reach for cargo at various levels.
  • Able to hook/unhook various commercial vehicle combinations.

COMPENSATION:
Pay is based on several factors including work experience, education, geographic location, certifications, etc. Successful candidates in this role are expected to earn $33.35 hourly.
