Job summary

Amazon is hiring a Systems Development Engineer in Bellevue, WA, to join Region Reliability Engineering. You will architect and operate large-scale cloud infrastructure for government-related workloads, driving reliability, security, and performance improvements.

You will lead with ownership, mentor engineers, and collaborate across teams to reduce toil and improve operational excellence in a Dev‑Ops environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)
• 2+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience
• 1+ years of designing or architecting systems (design patterns, reliability, scaling)
• 7+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage, operating systems
• Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
• Experience programming with at least one modern language (C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby)
• Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above

Responsibilities

• Deliver technology solutions to improve engineering and operational processes within your team
• Serve as technical leader and force multiplier for the team
• Own systems, mitigate risks and reduce complexity across teams
• Ensure system interactions with partner teams are consistent and integrated
• Think architecturally and trade off between tactical and strategic concerns
• Participate in reviews of partner-team systems
• Work backwards from customer experience to ensure correct solutions
