Job description

Evandale Farm is searching for a one-of-a-kind farm manager to join our small team PA (1/2 hour outside of Erie). Based on a 425-acre farm, our work is grounded in regeneration, repair, and healing of both the land and the people that depend upon it.

About Evandale Farm

Supported by a multi-spoke business model, including hospitality and community redevelopment, Evandale aspires to be a laboratory for incubating new practices for a reimagined economy based on regenerative relations with land, food, and community. We aim to become a profitable farm while actively inviting conventional farmers to participate in regenerative approaches. Our goal is to create replicable blueprints for transitioning from conventional agriculture, implementing restorative stewardship, and renewing soil and food nutrition.

Position Overview

The Farm Manager will develop a full regenerative farming system to transform the property through interconnected systems such as pollinator habitats, multi-species rotational grazing, regenerative food plots, mushroom farming, and seeding in forests, greenhouses, and hoop houses. The farm will be vibrant with pollinator systems, producing nutritionally dense foods, and featuring mushroom fruiting trailers with blue and pink oysters. Livestock will move across the land, supporting soil health, with forest underbrush thinned for walking paths and educational opportunities. Greenhouses and raised beds will support seedling transplants and vegetable production. The Farm Manager will help establish these regenerative systems across the property.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and manage a comprehensive farm plan integrating vegetable production, agroforestry, rotational grazing, nursery, and perennial crops.
  2. Manage daily farm operations: planting, irrigation, pest and disease control, harvesting.
  3. Monitor and maintain soil health using sustainable practices.
  4. Oversee animal care and rotational grazing systems.
  5. Implement organic and regenerative pest management strategies.
  6. Develop and maintain an agroforestry system with fruit trees, perennials, flowers, and nuts.
  7. Maintain perennial crops within the farm plan.
  8. Engage with community members and guests through educational farm tours and workshops on regenerative practices.
  9. Manage the farm budget and oversee procurement of equipment and supplies.
  10. Coordinate with management and other teams.
  11. Maintain farm infrastructure and oversee staff hiring and management.
Compensation

This is a competitive salaried position commensurate with experience. On-farm housing will be provided in a new house currently under construction.
