The City of Norfolk Department of Parks and Recreation Landscape Division is seeking an experienced Refuse Truck Operator. This position works with a team to maintain city streets and perform landscaping duties which include removing trees, mowing ditch banks, performing mechanized beach-cleaning, and hauling nursery stock.

Essential functions include but are not limited to:
Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.
Two years' experience as an Equipment Operator or successful completion of a City apprenticeship program.
Preferred License(s) and/or Certification(s):
CDL Class B with Air Brakes Endorsement within 6 months of employment
Refuse truck experience
Work Location: 2839 Dana Street, Norfolk, VA 23509
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, 40 hours per week
Signing Bonus: This position is eligible for a one-time $5,000 signing bonus for applications received on or after February 22, 2022. The signing bonus will be paid in two (2) increments: $2,500 upon completion of 60 days of employment, and $2,500 upon completion of your probationary period. To receive the signing bonus, you must be an active employee in good standing.
