Job summary

City of Savannah is seeking a Refuse Truck Operator to operate refuse and recycling trucks on assigned routes, performing pre-trip inspections and maintaining logs.

Requires a High School Diploma or GED, two years of medium/heavy equipment experience, and a valid Class B CDL with clean driving history. Work hours vary; background and medical screening are required prior to employment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent required.
• Class B Commercial Driver's License required with acceptable driving history.
• Two years of medium/heavy equipment operation and maintenance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre-route vehicle safety and operation checks.
• Informs supervisors of vehicle problems and completes daily logs.
• Drives refuse/recycling trucks on assigned routes and serves customers.
• Collects recyclables and ensures carts are serviced and emptied.
• Reports safety issues and city-code violations to supervisor.
