Job summary

Baltimore City Community College seeks a Program Coordinator for the Refugee Youth Project to lead day-to-day operations, manage grant budgets, and ensure high-quality after-school and summer programming for refugee youth across partner sites.

You will recruit and train staff, coordinate curricula and activities, track enrollment and outcomes, and build strong partnerships with resettlement agencies, schools, and community providers, while reporting on grant deliverables.

Job description

The Refugee Youth Project (RYP) Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the overall implementation and day-to-day operations of the program, including managing grant-funded budgets and resources; supporting the recruitment, onboarding, and training of project staff and instructors; providing programmatic direction and support to instructors, volunteers, AmeriCorps members, and contract staff; coordinating instructional and student support services; developing and maintaining partnerships with refugee service providers and the Baltimore City and County Public School Systems; and coordinating the development and delivery of after-school and summer programming for refugee youth.

  • Manage grant-funded budgets for the Refugee Youth Project, including monitoring expenditures and ensuring alignment with grant requirements.
  • Support the recruitment, onboarding, and training of program staff, instructors, and volunteers in coordination with appropriate program leadership.
  • Provide day-to-day programmatic direction and support to instructors, Site Coordinators, AmeriCorps members, volunteers, and contract staff to ensure effective program implementation.
  • Coordinate communication and collaboration among instructors, Site Coordinators, AmeriCorps members, contract staff, and program partners to support effective program implementation.
  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of program curriculum, instructional activities, and daily lesson planning.
  • Coordinate summer programming for middle and high school RYP participants.
  • Plan and coordinate logistics for after-school programming, including scheduling, site coordination, supplies, and operational needs.
  • Develop and facilitate at least three instructor professional development training courses annually.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness through ongoing assessment, data collection, and program improvement efforts.
  • Maintain accurate student records and program databases, including enrollment and attendance data, to support grant reporting, compliance, and evaluation requirements.
  • Ensure program activities align with grant objectives, deliverables, timelines, and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare and submit narrative grant reports and other required program documentation.
  • Maintain ongoing communication and partnerships with families, refugee resettlement agencies, school principals, and community partners.
  • Develop and distribute program promotional materials and maintain program communication platforms, including the program website and social media presence.
  • Conduct community outreach, recruitment, and program marketing activities, and represent the program at school and community events.
  • Ensure program sites have instructional materials, supplies, technology, equipment, and other resources needed to support high-quality programming, including snacks and other student supports.
  • Coordinate and track student referrals and support services by connecting participants and families to BCCC pathway programs, college resources, and appropriate community services.
  • Coordinate instructional and classroom support to ensure continuity of program delivery, including coordinating and/or assisting with instructor coverage, supporting combined classes, and collaborating with Site Coordinators to address staffing and instructional needs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, TESOL, Nonprofit Management, International Studies, or a related field.
Experience
  • Two (2) years of experience coordinating or managing youth, education, after-school, or community-based programs.
  • At least two (2) years of experience working in a multicultural environment.
  • Experience coordinating multiple projects, activities, or stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Experience maintaining program records and preparing reports.
Education
  • Master’s degree in Education, TESOL, Nonprofit Management, International Studies, or a related field.
Experience
  • Experience working with refugee, immigrant, or English language learner (ELL) populations.
  • Experience working with grant-funded programs and compliance requirements.
  • Experience collaborating with K–12 schools, community organizations, refugee resettlement agencies, and other external partners.
  • Experience developing and delivering professional development or staff training.
  • Experience with student information systems, databases, or grant reporting systems.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of youth development principles and culturally responsive practices.
  • Knowledge of refugee and immigrant communities and available community resources.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with schools, community partners, families, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze program data and prepare reports.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management systems.
  • Ability to travel to programming sites and work occasional evenings and weekends as required.
