Job summary

Bethany Christian Services in Kentwood, MI is seeking a Youth Specialist for the Part-Time Second Shift to support refugee and immigrant youth in a residential setting. This role requires weekend availability and on-site work.

You will monitor daily activities, assist with meal times, study, and outings, and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to uphold safety, confidentiality, and compassionate care. A high school diploma and at least one year of child welfare experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of child welfare experience working with children/adolescents.
• Experience with youth in a residential setting preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must provide compassionate customer service.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and pass medical/TB requirements.
• Must be 21+ with a valid U.S. driver’s license and clean MVR.
• Criminal history check compliance and adherence to agency policies.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in activities and encourage positive interaction among residents.
• Attend bi-monthly meetings with supervisor to discuss performance and concerns.
• Follow treatment guidelines and intervene in a caring, consistent manner.
• Promptly conduct CPI procedures when necessary.
• Oversee residents' daily routines including meals, study time, outings, and chores.
• Provide residential advocacy at staff meetings, updating on progress and concerns.
