Refrigeration Technician I, 2nd Shift (3pm - 11:30pm)

What we are looking for

This position is responsible for testing refrigerated display cases, ensuring product performance meets defined specifications. Responsible for all aspects of refrigeration equipment, evacuation, charging, and conduct functional checks of refrigerated display cases, maintenance of the test facility and equipment, installation of refrigeration piping, equipment, and small condensing units.

Essential Competencies
  • Set up and conduct prescribed performance testing on refrigerated display cases in accordance with defined industry and company standards and practices.
  • Troubleshoot refrigeration faults.
  • Evaluate test data and recommend case changes to achieve testing standards.
  • Brazing copper to copper, brass, aluminum or other dissimilar metals.
  • Maintain test facility and equipment, ensuring that test equipment is in proper working order; perform preventative maintenance.
  • Understand blueprints and schematics.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area.
Minimum Quantifiable Competencies
  • HS Diploma/GED
  • EPA 608 Level 2 or Universal Certification
  • Proficient in brazing
  • Able to read and understand piping and electrical schematics
  • Minimum 1 year experience with the installation, servicing, troubleshooting, or manufacturing of commercial or residential HVAC and/or refrigeration equipment.
Preferred Competencies
  • Experience with/working knowledge of refrigerated display cases, electrical systems, and refrigeration controls.
  • Manufacturing, testing or other hands on experience with refrigeration equipment.
  • Career Studies Certificate or other applicable certification in HVAC refrigeration.
  • Experience with/knowledge of Control Board (Dixell, Carell, etc).
  • Experience working on HVAC and Refrigeration equipment, including electrical and energy management controllers; Journeyman or higher level technician.
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.

Essential Physical/Environmental Requirements
  • Must be able to operate power tools and perform tasks that require fine motor skills.
  • May be required to perform specific tasks that involve standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting or kneeling.
  • Must be able to lift with or without mechanical aids on a recurring basis (up to 50 lbs).
  • Work is performed within a production environment, subject to temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, increased noise levels and dust.
