Job description

San Antonio Thermo King is now hiring Refrigeration Apprentice Technicians at 5807 Dietrich Road, San Antonio, TX 78219. Apprentice Refrigeration Technicians are responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing Thermo King reefer units, auxiliary power units (APUs), and heating units.

Responsibilities

1. Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on trailer, truck, Tripac, and Espar equipment.
2. Replace or reinstall fuel filters, batteries, alternators, water pumps, starters, belts, fuel pumps, and other components as needed.
3. Install new units and equipment, including Tripac APUs and Espar units.
4. Solder parts and utilize the Asset Library portal for manuals, software, customer lists, and labor guides.

Qualifications

Competencies include basic mechanical knowledge, familiarity with 4-cycle engines, Ohm’s Law, electricity, and the use of diagnostic tools. Must possess skills to use various hand and power tools, read electrical and refrigeration schematics, and solder parts. Forklift certification and a valid driver’s license are required.

Education/Experience

High School Diploma or GED required. 0-2 years of trade school or equivalent experience preferred. Must have or be willing to acquire necessary tools and forklift license.

Performance Requirements

• Work safely at all times.
• Maintain at least 21% productivity and 97% attendance.
• Perform oil changes within 15 minutes and keep timekeeping errors below 2 per month.
• Work overtime as needed.

Physical Demands

• Perform manual labor, including lifting up to 65 lbs and exerting force up to 50 lbs frequently.
• Stand, climb ladders, work in narrow spaces, and work in various weather conditions.
• Drive service vehicles over long distances.
• Work in environments with hazardous materials, fumes, and refrigerants.
