Summary

The Refrigeration Technician maintains, repairs, rebuilds, and adjusts refrigeration, boiler, and compressed air equipment by analyzing, calibrating, replacing, repairing, or rebuilding all equipment within established guidelines.

Schedule

1st Shift (Monday - Friday 7:00am - 7:00pm; Weekend overtime as needed, 4 days on, 3 days off)

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration and related equipment, including air compressors.
• Operate and maintain all refrigeration equipment.
• Interpret manufacturer manuals, preventive maintenance sheets, and safety policies; complete work sheets and checklists.
• Adjust machines to meet performance standards.
• Provide training and guidance to lower-level operators and technicians.
• Perform emergency shutdowns, startups, resets, and repairs to restore systems.
• Follow safety procedures, including PPE, Lockout/Tagout, Hot Work, and Confined Space protocols.
• Understand refrigerant expansion, pressure-temperature relationships.
• Maintain cleanliness of engine and compressor rooms.
• Possess necessary certifications such as CARO, CIRO, and RETA certification.
• Read and interpret gauges, micrometers, and other tools; experience with ammonia or Freon refrigeration, boiler operations, and compressed air systems.

Minimum Education

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience Requirements

• 8+ years in refrigeration; certifications including CARO, CIRO, RETA.
• Experience with safety programs, tools, and equipment related to refrigeration and boiler operations.

Preferred Skills

Reading and analytical skills.

Environmental and Physical Factors

• Exposure to wet, humid, and noisy environments; handling chemicals and working at heights and in confined spaces.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks.
