1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM
2nd Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
Ability and willingness to work overtime, any shift, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency events
Plant operation is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Job Description:

Summary Statement:
An Ammonia Refrigeration Operational Level Operator engages in the repair, operation, maintenance, and installation of industrial ammonia systems and equipment. Provides technical and problem-solving support for the plant and maintenance crews. Supports and develops others to drive continuous improvement of their technical and leadership capabilities. Committed to human and food safety. Consistently ensures the ammonia refrigeration team delivers on short- and long-term assignments. Ensures production schedules are met and all issues are resolved and communicated in a timely fashion. Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards. Executes preventive and/or predictive maintenance programs. This position is responsible for supporting regulatory compliance of all elements of the Ammonia Refrigeration Management (ARM) or OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) Program and EPA Risk Management Plan (RMP) at the facility.
Responsibilities:
Have successfully performed at the entry-level position
Start and stop equipment
Adjust controls, actuate valves
Perform routine system maintenance
Perform system inspections and mechanical integrity checks
Utilize preventive and predictive maintenance systems
Execute Ammonia Refrigeration Management (ARM) or Process Safety Management elements and requirements
Demonstrate competencies to progress to Technical Level Certification
Participating extensively in Safety and Compliance programs
Provide direction and training to entry-level operators
Perform routine system maintenance, Pump Out,s following an approved procedure or plan
Participates in the required verification and updates of existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Support any new equipment installations
Perform equipment, device, or component calibration
Perform simple repairs or operational verification of safety controls and systems
Support equipment or component factory tolerance verification or adjustments
Support equipment startups requiring a Pre-Start-Up Safety Review
Understand and participate in the Management of Change (MOC) and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) processes.
Assure daily log processes are utilized and effective
Participate in the Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis
Support the Safety Relief Valve program to assure that valves are correct and replaced as required
Support the condenser water treatment program to assure efficient condenser operation
Required Skills/Experience:
CARO or CIRO (Certified Assistant or Industrial Refrigeration Operator) – having passed the RETA CARO or CIRO exam, demonstrating the ability to operate and oversee the operation of an industrial refrigeration system
1 year of plant-specific industrial ammonia refrigeration operation and service experience
2 years of experience in general maintenance
Experience in industrial electrical systems maintenance, including troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance
HAZWOPER Hazardous Materials Technician (24-hour) certification and fit tested for respirator and SCBA
Trained in Confined Space, Hot Work, Mechanical Integrity, LOTO, Root Cause Analysis Programs
Ability to identify primary safety hazards of an ammonia refrigeration system
Access, utilize, and interpret mechanical specifications and standards of construction
Preferred Skills/Experience:
Technical school diploma in a related field
CPR/First Aid Certification
Experience with computerized maintenance management systems
