Our client, a nationwide provider of high-quality food products, has an immediate opening for an experienced Refrigeration Technician to join their team in Collingswood.
The ideal candidate will maintain the daily operation of the facility's refrigeration systems and perform mechanical and electrical maintenance activities to ensure safe and efficient system operation. They will also assist with other Maintenance Team activities as needed.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Review refrigeration equipment manuals and develop preventive maintenance programs to ensure high performance and reliability.
- Identify critical parts, determine minimum stock requirements, and ensure parts availability to minimize downtime.
- Audit and improve existing preventive maintenance programs to enhance reliability and reduce costs.
- Communicate effectively with Maintenance Associates about repairs and keep Management informed of repair status and impact on temperatures.
- Ensure proper sanitation post-maintenance.
- Clean refrigeration cooling unit coils regularly.
- Audit the compressor room daily, ensuring tools and safety equipment are stored properly.
- Label and store chemicals used in refrigeration according to manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Properly collect and store waste oil following federal, state, and local regulations.
- Meet with Management to resolve issues related to production, warehouse, and freezer temperatures.
- Coordinate with the tool crib and Maintenance Buyer about work orders and parts procurement.
- Collaborate with contractors on projects and maintenance requirements.
- Ensure refrigeration systems operate at peak efficiency.
- Supervise associates, enforce safety procedures, and ensure PPE compliance.
- Report unsafe conditions and take corrective actions promptly.
- Perform additional tasks and projects as assigned.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5 years of experience in meat production or retail meat management with Journeyman certification.
- Advanced technical knowledge of operating, repairing, and maintaining complex refrigeration systems.
- Ability to respond effectively to emergencies and isolate subsystems under emergency conditions.
- Strong skills in work prioritization and scheduling.
- Experience developing preventive maintenance programs from vendor manuals.
- Proficiency with spreadsheet software and understanding of electrical power distribution, instrumentation, and PLC programming.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems.
- Knowledge of refrigeration lubrication requirements and cooling tower water treatment.
- Understanding of OSHA, GMP, and EPA regulations related to refrigeration maintenance and refrigerant handling.
- Flexible working hours and willingness to work overtime as needed.
- Commitment to safety, department programs, and procedures. Ability to work in refrigerated environments for extended periods.
