Job description

This position is responsible for serving in the HVAC section of maintenance, and fulfilling duties that include commercial refrigeration, natural gas heating systems, low-pressure steam systems, hot water boilers, chill water systems, and high and pressure cooling systems.

• Perform preventive maintenance of HVAC/refrigerationsystems;
• Respond to temperature and environment management issues as they arise;
• Coordinate projects involving outsidecontractors;
• Monitorinventory;
• Submitestimates;
• Handle refrigerants/oil according to EPAstandards/safety;
• Maintain and monitor workspace and quality controls;
• Support other skilledtrades;
• Manage installation of new systems -HVAC/refrigeration;
• Operate, monitor, maintain, and repair chilled watersystems;
• Repair and maintain commercial refrigerationsystems;
• Repair electronic digital HVAC controls;
• Perform all other duties asassigned.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

Maintain availability for after-hours call-in, when necessary.

• High school diploma/equivalent is required;
• Associate's degree in related field is preferred;
• Minimum of one year of related experience is required with two years of experience preferred.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS

• Valid driver's license,required;
• EPA Universal Refrigeration Certification - must be obtained within six months of the starting date.

• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models;
• Ability to interpret blueprint specifications, drawings and schematics;
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, administrators, parents, visitors, vendors, volunteers, and the general public;
• Knowledge of local contacts in trade to aid in problem solving;
• Knowledge of and skills to operate various HVAC/refrigeration testing and repair equipment;
• Ability to install complete HVAC systems ranging from small residential to large commercial;

• Knowledge of systems analysis and systems evaluation activities;
• Knowledge of related mechanisms and mechanics involved, including machines and tools used;
• Knowledge of building and construction materials, methods, and tools;
