Job summary

MAC Incorporated is seeking a Refrigeration Mechanic to support our Philadelphia operations at a port terminal. The role requires 2+ years of reefer experience or a technical school diploma, with strong refrigeration and electrical knowledge.

Shifts include 2nd (2PM-10:30PM) and 3rd (10PM-6:30AM). Must have or be willing to obtain a TWIC card and be comfortable working outdoors in varied weather.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a Reefer Mechanic or a Technical School diploma.
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration and electrical systems.
• EPA Section 608 Certification preferred (refrigerant handling).
• Ability to read electrical schematics and repair manuals.
• Able to lift 50+ pounds.
• Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, and perform preventative maintenance on reefer units to ensure proper working condition.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration system malfunctions on reefer units (Carrier, Thermo King, Daikin, StarCool).
• Conduct pre-trip inspections and post-repair testing to verify units operate within standards.
• Replace defective parts and components as needed.
• Maintain accurate equipment records by documenting inspections, repairs, and service history.
• Collaborate with operations, dispatch, terminal staff, shipping lines, and vendors to prioritize urgent repairs.
• Keep equipment and work area clean, safe, and well-organized; follow safety policies.

REFRIGERATION MECHANIC OPENING WITH A LARGE LOGISTICS COMPANY IN PHILADELPHIA

PAY RANGE: $30HR

MUST HAVE TWIC CARD OR OPEN TO GETTING IT

2ND SHIFT: 2PM-1030PM
3RD SHIFT: 10PM-630AM

Primary Responsibilities:

• Inspect, test, and perform preventative maintenance on reefer units to ensure proper working condition
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration system malfunctions on reefer units (e.g., Carrier, Thermo King, Daikin, StarCool)
• Conduct pre-trip inspections and post-repair testing to verify units are operating efficiently and to industry standards
• Replace defective parts and components as needed
• Listen to and assess operator complaints to identify and resolve equipment issues
• Respond to service calls and provide on-site repairs as needed
• Maintain accurate equipment records by documenting all inspections, repairs, and service history in accordance with company procedures
• Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and service supplies
• Collaborate with operations, dispatch, terminal staff, shipping lines, and vendors to prioritize urgent repairs and ensure efficient service delivery
• Keep equipment and work area clean, safe, and well-organized at all timesFollow all company safety policies, regulatory standards, and utilize safe working practices
• Ability to work at satellite sites within a 10-mile radius

Requirements:

• 2+ years of experience as a Reefer Mechanic, or a Technical School diploma
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems and electrical systems
• EPA Section 608 Certification preferred (for refrigerant handling)
• Ability to read electrical schematics and repair manuals
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
• Dependable, persistent, and able to manage time effectively
• Demonstrated problem-solving ability and strong attention to detail
