Job summary

JEVS Human Services through Orleans Technical College is seeking a part-time Refrigeration Instructor to teach students the basics of air conditioning, refrigeration and heating with hands-on projects and theory. You will lead classes 2 evenings per week (5:30pm–10:15pm), supervise hands-on trades tasks, and assess theoretical knowledge while preparing curricula materials.

EPA certification and HVAC experience are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing residential and commercial HVAC systems.
• EPA certification required.
• Knowledge of electrical theory and heating theory is a must.
• Experience soldering and brazing.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in the basics of air conditioning, refrigeration and heating as per curriculum.
• Supervise students during hands-on trades tasks.
• Assess students’ knowledge through testing of theory.
• Prepare curricula materials for class sessions.
• Utilize varied delivery methods and media to keep students engaged for the full class day.
• Maintain attendance and grade rosters.

JEVS Human Services has an exciting opportunity to join the team at our Orleans Technical College as a Refrigeration Instructor. The Instructor will be responsible for teaching students through hands‑on projects and theory in safety, math, and other basics of air conditioning refrigeration and heating.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction, as specified in the curriculum, in the basics of air conditioning refrigeration and heating
• Supervise students in hands‑on trades tasks
• Provide testing of students’ knowledge of theory
• Prepare curricula materials
• Utilize varying delivery methods and media to keep students engaged with the lesson for the full class day.
• Maintain student attendance and grade rosters

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing residential and commercial systems; experience working with heat pumps, gas and oil‑fired furnaces, ductwork, radiant heat, etc.
• Must have EPA certification
• Knowledge of electrical theory and heating theory is a must
• Must have experience soldering and brazing

This position is part‑time, 2 evenings per week, 5:30pm‑10:15pm.

Part‑time instructor pay rate is $32.50.

The base pay for this position is $32.50 Base pay is one part of the Total Compensation that JEVS Human Services provides to recognize employees for their work.
